Everything you wanted to know about Tiki but we’re afraid to ask. Musician/DJ/Bartender Brother Cleve lived through the final days of Tiki’s heyday and its  subsequent demise. He was a player - literally, as a musician - during Tiki’s revival in the ‘90’s. 


In this 90 minute PowerPoint seminar, - filled with imagery, music, and the most fascinating Tiki Infomercial you’ve never seen - Musician/DJ/Bartender Brother Cleve looks at the roots and rise of Tropical bars and restaurants, their influence on American culture and vice versa, and it’s global spread. We examine how and why it went out of fashion, and how and why it returned, and where it’s gone and where it’s going in a new millennium.

Bio: An Atlanta native, Stella started her culinary career at Woodfire Grill in 2007. A year later she moved to England, where she was fascinated by neighborhood butchers who had been buying game from hunters and hanging meat from small local farms for centuries. Her work at Holeman & Finch and Farmburger connected her to Southern farmers, ranchers and cheesemakers. She remains an advocate for local agriculture and is passionate about making their delicious products approachable for home cooks.

Shake! Shake! Shake! Tiki cocktails for beginners

Omni Hut: A rememberance

Join Darren Long as he discusses his new book, ‘Omni Hut: Celebrating Tennessee’s Tiki Treasure,’ a tribute to one of America’s pioneering Tiki/Polynesian restaurants, originally only one of two such establishments in the entire state, a Tiki palace that flourished from 1960 to 2018. 

  

Darren Long is a musician, singer, and songwriter and the creative force behind the band, The Tiki Delights, based in Nashville, TN. Darren has also authored ten books, including ‘Omni Hut: Celebrating Tennessee’s Tiki Treasure,’ released in March of 2018, an in-depth history of the Smyrna, Tennessee Tiki restaurant that prospered for fifty-eight years. Omni Hut recently closed its doors, sadly, but the legacy left by the Walls family will carry on.
